We are preparing for a major winter storm, oh fun. Sigh. 12 to 18 inches of snow forecast from tonight into Sunday afternoon.
We will have to cancel our Christmas with DS and DGS on Sunday here. I’m bummed. We want them safe though. Maybe New Years will work.
Otherwise, a boring day.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
Lights and decor will stay up until I get tired of looking at it.
Stay safe, Czech.
Mom and dad are going out of town for a few days.
Brother has been here since last week, I don't know if he's ever leaving.
Jewel has found her thumb. I'm discouraging thumb sucking. Seems a lot harder to break a thumb habit.
We are enjoying typical southern winter weather. Cold one day, hot the next.
Happy Friday, everyone.

Thumb sucking is better than a binky. Neither of my kids were given pacifiers and sucked the thumb for only a short while.
Sorry about the snow Czech, I wouldn't mine getting that. Nothing big planned so hunkering down would be just fine. I am in full closet organization mode too.
Done a bunch of errands, still need to go to the bank and grocery store for a few items. My SIL is Chinese and the tradition is all singles in the family receive on of those red envelopes with money for the new year. I confiscated DD's and putting it in her bank account. She hates that I do that but she has plenty of cash and GC's to spend.

Took miss kitty to the vet for her follow up earlier. Shes good.
Empty rental house next door was broken into last night. Several broken windows. I called the sheriff, they came out and said someone had already called late last night. I don't have the owner's contact but someone on the neighborhood watch page does. I've been lurking with the front door hoping to catch the owner.
One of DH's employees used to give the boys the red envelopes, too. It was fun! I finally met her at a recent wedding. She's a lot of fun.
Neither of my boys were thumb suckers. They only used pacifiers for about a week after they came home. I did miss the quiet. LOL
We have nice mild weather in the 50's. We're supposed to get rain Sunday I have been told.
My son was a thumb sucker, his boys liked the binky, youngest just had his taken away due to a rash and we are all missing it. When my daughter and family lived in Indonesia they have a huge Chinese population and some in their apartment duplex gave my granddaughter red envelopes.
Jewel only takes a pacifier when she is hungry or wanting to sleep, but she spits it out after a few minutes.
The thumb suckers I've seen were really hard to break the habit. I've seen 8 year olds sucking thumbs.
SB, I had a cat named Miss Kitty. She literally followed me home after I got her out of a tree. She stayed around and ended up having kittens constantly! BUT! We had no mice! 😆

Recycling was just picked up. I then broke down the rest of the boxes from Christmas for the next round of recycling in two weeks. I can take it to the dump Saturday which I may do and just be done with it. But at least for now the Christmas clutter is gone. Told DD she has to get rid of pair of shoes. Her shoes are every where. Yes I am on a cleaning frenzy.

I was just in my back yard so I was able to see the back of neighbors house. They have a total of 6 broken windows.
Didn't you hear them being broken?

My trash can is overflowing and pickup isn't till Monday.

Nope. My bedroom is on the opposite side of the house and I sleep with a fan on.

Oh. I see. I sleep with a fan, too.

Christmas decorations are down and put away; New Years are up, such as they are. A kado matsu and a pine wreath. Rushing to get everything ready for the New Year; all bills paid, enough food on hand, etc. Actually it is not as bad as it was 40 years ago when everything closed for a week or 10 days at New Year. Now one day is all that poor New Year gets in the way of recognition.... From the 2nd, almost everything retail starts back although the offices do not open until the 6th in 2020.
Hardly anything closes for the new year here. DD works for fast food. They were closed on Christmas day and the following day they received many negative comments about not being open.

That’s insane, they have a right to spend Christmas with their families.
The older I get, the more I wish things would close on holidays and Sundays like they used to. Force people to slow down a little.

At the places open on Christmas, most are staffed by part time worker, typically teens, young 20's. When I was that age I loved my retail job when working holidays. I received not just holiday pay but also time and 1/2 for what I worked. We would split the shifts so no one worked more than 4 or 6 hours which left plenty of time to spend with family.

I have never gotten holiday, or overtime, pay. You must have worked for some swanky places.

???? That is the norm for most places.

No. It really isn't.

At my job we get 8 hours holiday pay regardless of work or not. If you are scheduled to work you get time and 1/2. If you are on call and work it's double time.
At all the places I've worked, no matter my position, holiday pay was never a thing.
Overtime was just that. You had to have over 40 hours to get it. And management made sure that didn't happen.
And, yes, when I was a manager, it was my job to cut hours.
I've worked retail and manufacturing jobs my whole life.
For the record, I'm not arguing. Only talking about my experience.
