Thank you fnw and ikwtd, My husband really liked the bmw he rented on a business trip, I personally love my Lexus and love the one I have now almost 9 years old and except for being rear ended never had any issues and only took it in for maintenance. The issue my husband has is that he hates the grill on the newer models, now he is thinking a Ford Explorer which I liked the one I had a few years ago. We could afford both the Lexus or bmw, but the older my husband gets the harder it is for him to spend money.

A range rover is an option too.
Wow! they are nice! doesn’t the Queen of England drive a Range Rover?
She doesn't drive. Maybe chauffeured in one. I don't know.
Yes, the Queen drives! And she doesn't even have to have a license!
I love the Queen.

I do admire the queen mostly due to the important decisions she has had to make from a young age and through life. It is very interesting. Having to put her sister into a "down" level and also knowing those that are good for the Royal family such as Kate. Hard spot for her to be in and so has given her wants over to the good of the Royals which is a huge revenue draw for Britian.
Imagine all the history she has lived through, she never desired this position, at least not as quick has it happene, she thought she had a longer time just being a wife and mother when King George died, but she stepped up and still serves her country in good and difficult times. I too admire her.

She does? That amazes me.

I think William and Kate would be accepted as the next rulers versus Charles and Camilla. So, I do think it would be smarter to pass that succession to William.
I’m not sure Camilla can have the title of queen. Man oh man I would have loved to see Diana as Queen.
I think she would stick with her current title (I don't even know what that is. Lady? Duchess?) like Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh. He wasn't King.

Yeah, she will never be queen or a Princess. The succession goes: Charles, William, George, Charlotte, Louis, then it would have been Harry however not anymore.

I was reading an article about this stuff. Camilla could have queen consort if Charles becomes king, however she most likely will not.
Kate would definitely have the title queen consort, then queen mother.

The consort just means they are married to the king or queen. There is no real power behind it, other than how they are treated.

The reason Philip never took King, is because it would put him above Elizabeth. He was granted the title of prince years after Charles was born.

"the wives of kings do not receive the title of queen". If Charles takes the throne Camilla is promoted to Princess rather than whatever else she is. Charles has the power to upgrade her from that but would need the permission of the lineage, which means William (and Harry before) and potentially William's sons to do that. Like QE thumbs downed Margaret's marriage.

Yes, Kate will be Queen consort, her title will be Queen Catherin, just not a regent Queen like Elizabeth
I don't think so - she'll retain her current title, like Phillip. He stayed 'Prince' and 'Duke'. Not King or consort.
No. She will be Queen Consort. Just not Queen Regnant.
Once Prince William then takes the throne and becomes the King of England, Kate will then be the Queen Consort. Kate, 37, will only hold the title of Queen Consort, and not be The Queen of England in the same way the sovereign is now. All females who marry sovereigns are styled as Queen Consorts, except in rare cases.

When Mary II was Queen - as the next rightful heir, she was given the throne WITH her husband when he was invited by Parliament to invade, so he was King William and she was Queen Mary, they ruled jointly. He remained King even after she died. Although he died shortly thereafter. Anne (Mary's younger sister) then became Queen, and she did not make her husband King.
Previously, Mary I married Phillip II, he became king for 4 short years only, because when she died - he was no longer King.
Queen Elizabeth I did not want to share her power, so she never married.
Queen Victoria, the longest reigning Queen before Elizabeth II, never made her husband, Albert, King, but that was a political choice, he was not, at first, loved by the British people.
Prince Philip actually had to give up his former titles to marry Elizabeth II, and over time, she has gifted him with more titles - but never King.
In short, the sovereign has the choice about making their spouse a queen or king consort. Queen consorts are standard, but kings not so much - mainly because historically women would be giving up power giving their husbands such a title. After all, women only became queens when their was no male heir to become king. At least they have changed that rule now - took them long enough.

I was thinking the other day how both depressing and annoying it would be for, basically, the world wondering who will take your place when you die.

Well, so many have hoped the Queen would outlive Charles and the throne would go directly to William, but lets face it - Charles has some good genes, both his parents are still kicking it strong well into their 90s.

If Charles abdicated the throne it would go to William and the Queen could finally retire. He has said he won't though.
Would you? He's had to live his whole life with the responsibility of being the Prince of Wales, next in line for the throne. Becoming King is his birthright. William can wait a bit longer.

Depends. Maybe at this point in life he doesnt' want the responsibility of being a King.
