CDC COVID numbers degraded

UPDATE:  So I found the difference. CDC is reporting any case reported as COVID while NVSS is reporting confirmed cases. So why is CDC reporting invalidated numbers?

Extremely interesting.

The CDC is reporting suspected case numbers as opposed to confirmed by the National Vital Statistics System.

I believe that a lot of the "reporters"
are classifying ALL deaths as covid-
related, including 90-year olds in
hospice who die of kidney failure,
without having been exposed to the
virus.

So far, my county has not had any
reported cases of hospitalizations
due to covid-19. Knock on wood !

Our governor told us that the "cases" are not "persons". When a person tests positive they are usually tested several times throughout their course. Each time they are tested has been reported as a "case." So the number of cases are triple (at least) the number of actual people infected.

I firmly believe they manipulated the data to make it seem worse than it was.

This has been largely debunked by independent fact checkers

So they tell you but fact is the National Vital Stat system uses confirmed cases while the CDC uses reported cases that are unconfirmed.

The news, changes every day. Sometimes, by the hour.

I don't believe all of it.

I have a lot of doubts, about a lot of things, having to do with this virus.

One of the biggest doubts, I have...is that they are going to come up with a vaccine, in the next 18 months.

I wish it would happen. But, history, is not on their side. (They've been trying to find one for HIV, for almost 40 years. Still don't have one.)cry

I'm not ready to go out there, and act like life is ready to go back to normal.

Nope. Not yet. Not for a long time.

We just don't have enough information, IMHO.

Can we hide in our homes, forever?

No, of course not!

We still need to be very careful, when going out.

Just my two cents.

I agree FWM on everything. But for the current situation the CDC "facts" are no llonger facts. They neglected to disclose the number of deaths they report were not confirmed. Would like to know the reasoning behind that one but we will never know.

Now, thinking along those same lines....how many deaths went unreported, because testing wasn't being done, at the time?

Now, they are talking about testing the bodies of people, who died months ago. To see if they had the virus, or not.cry

I don't think we will ever get an actual number. (No ones fault... it just seems impossible to do.)

Know what I mean?

I sure do KWYM FWM. However I think it is irresponsible for an alleged important agency to be putting numbers out like that with out all disclosures. Reduces their credibility.

This reminds me of some of the school shootings, and other mass shootings, when we were given bad information, because one of the media reporters, wanted to get the scoop.

crycrycry

Wait until you have something concrete, to report.

Whether you are a government agency, or, the media.

Wait, until you know, what the hell is gong on!

Quit, with the guessing games, already! You are playing fast and loose, with peoples lives!furious

When you have good, information, by all means, let us know.

In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter what the total number of deaths is or cases for that matter? Some deaths are a result of the virus, like any other flu virus, heart attack, cancer, etc. Why does it have to be so dramatic with the fear and scare tactics?

I am not sure why they are reporting the numbers as they do.  What I do know it is vital to have real numbers for any disease to be able to properly track the progress and treatments made  so what we know what works.  CDC publishing BS numbers negates those other numbers.  It is troubling to say the least.

I guess I understand the need to properly track treatments, etc. but we're never going to know the real numbers.

No we won't ever know the real numbers but classifying deaths as COVID is harming other diseases' help.

FS, I think having good numbers, on the death count, might convince people to be more careful.

And, at this point, stay home, unless you really need something. That's what I plan to do. I don't want to be at risk, or put others, at risk.

Why does it have to be so dramatic?

In my opinion, it's because, they don't know bugger all, about this disease...and many more people are going to die, until they understand this virus.

There are so many questions in my mind. Why, do some people have it, and recover, with nothing worse than a cough, for a couple of days?

And, others get it, and die?confuse

Too many questions. Not enough answers.

I plan to be careful.smile

Yes, it is. And, this was brought to light a month ago and yet people are still denying it's happening.

I still don't understand why New
York City had to hire refrigerated
trucks (freezers) to hold the bodies
until they could be cremated or buried.
The funeral industry became swamped
all of a sudden, and couldn't keep up
with the demand.

So the issue really is for every death each state gets 13K in federal funds. That is way too much of a temptation to classify deaths as CoVID and it is BS.  NY death numbers already had to adjust down due to this.  I do not believe those pics out of NY with the coffins of those unclaimed.  Those were not all COVID many were just their typical homeless deaths, I am not poo pooing the homeless but am saying NY is absolutely playing it up to get the fed dollars. Corruption.

The only reason they're fudging the numbers up to this point was to scare people into cooperating. They should have been honest from the beginning about the numbers rather than drama llama'ing their way through this in the beginning.

Of course they don't know diddly about it and more people are going to die. More people are going to die during the second wave of this as well. IMO, it's going to take much longer than they're predicting to have any viable information, treatment or vaccine for this. People talked about herd immunity in the beginning and all the "experts" poo-poo'd it. Now, the "experts" are talking herd immunity.

We're all different in our own way. I'm sure there are far too many things that factor in to whether someone gets a mild case or dies from it. I've often asked myself why my father passed away at the age of 32 from a massive heart attack. Why did the autopsy show he had the insides of a man in his 80s when he was just 32? Who knows? Luck of the draw? Diet? Genetics? I'm sure we'll get some answers but I think we're going to have to resign ourselves to the fact that we're not going to know everything. And, just when the "experts" think they have them, this will mutate and we'll be starting from square two.

But, how long should the country, or world for that matter, stay in lock-down? How long should the economy be in free-fall over this?

A grain of salt is wise. I have no faith in what's being reported or by what governors are clambering about.

The brave have been testing the waters since this all began. All of us essential workers who've been out there day in and day out.

It bugs me that now these governors are forcing people back to work and if they refuse, they lose their unemployment! It bugs me that those of us on the so called front-lines who are non-medical, get a lousy $2 in hazard pay that is taxable income and a donut as a thank you. It bothers me that the ball was drop in that there is no pandemic plan in place for a situation such as this by any local, state or federal agency. It bothers me that so many people are in such financial straights with no help in sight other than a lousy $1200 payment.

UGH, I'm getting off my soap box now. LOL

The death toll in my county dropped. Not because they said patients didn’t die from covid 19. It was because they weren’t FROM my county even though they died IN my county.

Federal funding, for what? Who get's the money?

I have no clue?

The Federal money is being allocated to regions based on how bad the numbers are,i.e. number of cases.  Makes sense to allocate more money to harder hit areas.  However if areas are reporting numbers that are not confirmed and thus receiving funds that they shouldn't that is criminal.
