This is the day the Lord has made! I will rejoice, and be glad in it!
That song is on my mind a lot lately. I find myself repeating it in my mind throughout the day.
Happy birthday to Wayne!
This is the only June 18th we get this year, might as well make the most of it.
It looks like it could storm at any second. I have some cleaning I've been putting off, but I can't stand it any longer.
Happy Thursday.

Happy birthday to Wayne!!
Covid cases going up fast here. 48 today, we used to have less than 10 a day. The daycare center on the base just got shut down. Multiple children and workers have it. My neighbor works there. She’s always having groups of people at her house every weekend.
Update on Monster. He had a stroke. Thankfully he is getting better. He may have a pronounced change in his gaite and his activity level, but he is doing better each day.

We've had an increase, too.

I know, it literally happened overnight. He was fine when we went to bed, in the morning he couldn't get himself out from under the bed.
There really isn't anything to do for him but love on him. He's is eating and drinking better each day.
He is able to walk around and visit each of us now. He is coming out to see Jewel every day, now, too.
He can get down and up at the end of the porch now, but needs help with higher steps.
He's doing really well all things considered.

When we lost Hemi our 18 year old lab we knew we were going to have to put him down. He was falling over, pooping everywhere, didn't want to eat, and had chronic infections. We made the choice to end his suffering as it is not about how long they live but what life they have while they are alive. We had three days to prepare. We fed him steak, ribs, donuts, and just about everything else he wasn't supposed to have. We spent time throwing his favorite ball and letting him catch it. We bought him dog cookies and fed him treats. We brushed his coat. The morning he went in we all hugged him with many tears. Then we sat with him while he went on to a better life. It was sad but it was the right thing to do. My kids took it really hard. He was an awesome dog. Couldn't have asked for a better one.

Monster isn't suffering. He was trying to play a little last night. He seems to be getting stronger each day. According to all the information I've been given, he will recover, mostly. His eyesight may fade, and he will never be 100% again, but he isn't in pain. He can get himself way up under the bed and out. And he is still eating and drinking, and has control over his functions.
However, there is a plan in place if it comes to that.

Meow to Mittens !
I'm glad Monster is feeling better!
I made Wayne a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I also made lemon bars.
I'm glad Monster is doing better. It's so hard to have to put your pet down. I still remember taking Carlee into the vet in a coma. He was telling me I needed to make a decision NOW and I was trying to get hold of DH at work to let him know I had to put her down. I had the vet sternly talking in one ear and DH sternly talking in the other ear and I was just sobbing. I was hysterical. I cried so hard that some man wandered down the hall to stare at me. That prompted the vet's office to put a candle at the reception desk with a big sign, "If this candle is lit someone just lost a beloved pet. Please use respect in the office." I wasn't there when we put Layla down. She had become more and more aggressive over time. She kept attacking Luna. The final time she attacked her she broke Luna's jaw. We had already decided one more act of aggression and we would put her down. I was keeping kids at the time and we couldn't take a chance. I think that took us a few days to process. We were pretty much in shock that it came to that.
