I'm not sure I'd go with a bracelet. (I'm not big on jewelry either. And a bracelet is my least favorite piece of jewelry to wear. But that's just me.)

We got a silver platter from MIL. But it was engraved as an anniversary gift to DH's grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary. So when we opened it, it was...weird.

DH's parents were divorced and apparently she took the platter which belonged to DH's father. (It was his parents' anniversary gift that he and his sister bought for them). DH's father never knew what happened to that platter...assumed his sister got it when their parents died...until our wedding day. So you can imagine the shock for all of us.

Well, serving platters don't really scream personal, to me.

Unless it's engraved with something meaningful, to the couple.

And, most of the younger crowd, don't seem to use them anymore. (Just going by Conor, and his friends. They are very casual, when entertaining.) Not that they have been able to do much entertaining, lately.

Does she love the holidays, as much as you do?

A Manger scene, might be nice. They could put it up every Christmas. (I let Jessi go through all my Christmas stuff, after she and Conor got married. Young couples don't have much of that. So they took a bunch of mine. I'm too old to put it all up, anymore.) wink

I've seen several throw pillows with sayings about DIL's. Blessed you are my DIL kind of thing. Or a t-shirt with something printed on it? I got my SIL a t-shirt that says I have an awesome MIL and yes she bought this shirt for me. I've seen a lot of cute designs though. How about an early wedding present? Pillowcases that say Mr. and Mrs.? Do they have pets? I can think of a lot of ideas if they do.

I am the Aunt that buys everyone a Kitchen Aid mixer in their color choice. Kind of fun cuz now i see my nieces baking with their kids and can see that in the background.

I like the idea of a nice frame, perhaps a digital frame with personalization on it. You can always buy a frame, load the SMS card up with pics of your son and find some nice classy things to glue on to the frame, such as her initials.

I love the cookbook idea, too. My former MIL gave me recipes but intentionally would omit an ingredient or two. Former SIL told me she didn't want it to be as good as hers. Former FIL watched her cook so he gave me the missing ingredients after she passed.

DH's mother wasn't a good cook when DH was growing up so there were no "favorites". She was an excellent cook in her latter years but DH moved out at 18 and never returned back. A couple of things she made for us I asked the recipe for and she gave them to me, in their entirety, LOL.

I think if there are some favorites that your son loves that would be a nice gesture. My grandmother gave my mother my father's favorites, and she still has them. And they are still his favorites. They've been married 60 years this September.

You'll make a nice MIL, lily.

I am all about charcuterie boards! You can get some beautiful handmade ones on Etsy, and some of them personalized.

My DD had a picture frame on Etsy personalized for me. It has some burlap flowers in my favorite colors and says Grandma Established 2020. Maybe you could do something like that for her with DIL? Make it yourself for an even more personal touch.
