I think I got bit by something. Must not have been serious because it still looks normal, but not a fun way to get woke up.
It already sounds like the world is frying outside.
I have no solid plans for today.
Happy Saturday.

Going from private to public? Most around here are going the opposite. There is now a wait list at the boys' school. They aren't taking many because they want the classes to remain small so they can still go 2X a week.
My only problem was not all of my credits transferred, so I had to take a couple do over classes.

Would love to put DD in private school. I wanted to do so from the beginning but the ex wouldn't agree. Ass
I finished the lower garden this morning. It's large but simple with one large boulder by my butterfly bush, rocks bordering the sides, pink tall Flox, a fushia glass bird bath, and mulch. I may plant more next year but for now it's pretty and easy to maintain.
DS moved the extra mulch from that garden to another area. It's a hilly area and I want a nice pathway leading up to my neighbor/friends house. Too hot now to work on that, maybe tomorrow morning won't take long. We both like dogs and I had picked up paw solar lights and plan on lining the path with those.
My other neighbor / friends MIL passed this week and the service is going on right now so I am taking care of their dog and their relatives dogs. I had those dogs and Sonny out playing, glad they all get along.
Have to get to the grocery store, plan on making dill pickles. Some of my cukes are just not getting large so I plan on picking them for pickling. I need dill though.
That is about it.

I'm wanting some fresh corn on the cob. I'm thinking of going to the store.

Going to a cooking class tonight. Back in February, DH and I thought it would be a fun date night for early March. Five months later we are actually going to the class. We had a blast when we did a pottery making date night a couple of years ago. We still use the plates and bowls that we made.
I harvested about 1 1/2 pounds of potatoes from my "experiment." A few months ago, I had about 4 or 5 small potatoes that were going bad so I put them in a growing bag with potting soil, added more as they grew to endure the potatoes did not see the sun, but a few weeks ago I noticed something had eaten the leaves. Anyway, today I dumped the soil out and voila! Potatoes! So I used the soil to create a new garden where the lettuce had been and planted (hopefully) a fall harvest of beets. We've been practically living on beets and beet greens the last few weeks.
My tomatoes are ripening, too. I have peppers and tomato plants where I used my home "grown" compost so evidently the table scrappings are reproducing in the garden. And Fang & I met up again.
Pickling going on. I hope this turns out well. Called refrigerator dill pickles. Will be ready in 3 days. Recipe called for a tablespoon of sugar but DS is border diabetic, controlling with diet. So I cut the sugar down by 2/3 rds.
DD starts work Tuesday! Local grocery store.

DH grows the most delicious new
potatoes. I still have two crispers
full of these delightful little red
bombs! He loves them creamed,
and I like to make cubed home
fries.
I love to roast red potatoes. A little oil, salt and pepper, and a dash of onion powder with some dill. So good.

Lily ~
If you get some really good
corn, here is the EASIEST way
to cook them with all of their
great nutrients.
Remove the tough outer husks
- only one or two, you want to
keep the rest. With the cob on
the cutting board, chop off the
stem end, including the first
row of kernels. Microwave 2
minutes. Turn the cob over
and microwave for an additional
minute. Let sit one minute.
Using two potholders to protect
your fingers, hold the cob in
your right hand (palm down)
and grasp the silks with your left.
Using a back and forth motion, pull
the silks and husk in one smooth
motion. The husks will release
at the end, and all of the silks
will come off in one fell swoop.
Not a single silk will be left, and
the corn will be perfectly cooked,
with no loss of nutrients.
I've been doing this for years,
and thought that everyone else
did it this way, too.
