Just finishing off some of the
BEST tamales I've ever had!
The pork filling is generous,
and the masa is finely ground,
and fully cooked. Yum, from
this used-to-be-Yankee.
Good morning! Hope you all are having a wonderful morning, I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning, pretty icy outside and called my essential and told her not to come. I got to take the tree down and other Christmas decorations.
Good evening everyone. Hope y'all had a good NYE and New Year's day, so far. It's been raining and now sleet and freezing rain is falling. My deck and the parking lot are an icy mess. Hopefully temps warm up before morning as I have to work. Speaking of work, I earned a whole extra $5.25 today by working the holiday. We get an extra $1 per hour if we do. Whatever will I do with that? Hmmmmmmmmm
I keep checking my bank account to see if I've gotten my $600 yet and nothing. I hope they don't forget me! lol
Momala, I always take my tree down either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. I took it down earlier, even as early as Christmas night, but after children I keep it up longer. I was planning on taking it down Tuesday, but my grandson gave me a dirty look.... I never heard of the 12th night, is it more regional?
It may be a New England area
tradition, but all of our family
and friends keep the lights on
until Jan. 6th - 12th night. As
part of the "12 Days of Christmas".
On the year I planted a perfectly
shaped 5' Colorado Blue Spruce,
I left the clear lights on, took off
the red bows and poinsettia
blossoms, and put on pink bows
and red carnations for Valentine's
Day. That way, I could keep the
decorations up for a long, long
time. I did green for St. Pat's,
yellow & green for Easter,
red/white/blue for Memorial Day
and 4th of July, and orange for
Halloween. The tree is huge now,
over 10' tall, and perfect pyramid
shape.
DH's niece, who owns The Pig
Stand in San Antonio, just
brought us a fabulous dinner
of ham, cabbage, black eyed
peas, sweet potatoes, corn
bread, and pineapple upside
down cake! It was wonderful!
Great way to start the year.

Thank you,  one of our employees kept a tree up all year long in her office, and just changed the decorations for what holiday season it is.
