Happy first day of March!

Chilly and drizzling here.

But, my new dishwasher is being installed today, so I'm a happy camper!

I need to unload the cabinet under the sink. And do a few little chores.

How about you?

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

Yay for the new dishwasher!

Boo on niece having the virus! I hope it's not too bad for her. Prayers.

It started as yet another rainy day. It ended early and was quite foggy but not for too long. The sun poked out for half a second and now it's overcast and super windy. Gusts up to 50 mph. UGH Thankfully, I had a short day at work and was home by 12:15. For now, I'm watching the CNN show of Stanley Tucci Searching for Italy. It's a pretty good show and centered mostly on food but he's touring all the differen regions of Italia, which is probably the only way I'll ever see it. hahaha The show airs on Sunday evenings.

After this, I have a couple of pics to hang in the kitchen and dining room. Not sure what's for dinner but I'll figure out something. Perhaps some shrimp scampi. Or leftover pizza.

So much to the boys' chagrin, Cotillion is starting up again next month! School will start in person 4 days a week after Spring Break and 5 days a week starting in the Fall. The county camps are registering for in person summer camp. And the club issued its first newsletter in a year. So things are starting to return to somewhat normal. Slowly.

Two steps forward...one step back.

The new dishwasher is in! Yeehaw! I just need to learn how to load it.wink

Wayne is supposed to get his first shot of the vaccine tomorrow, at 10. Okay, if that makes him happy...go for it! (Not me. I'm a lot less trusting, than Wayne.)confuse

And...Jupiter, is going back to the Vet on Thursday. Her left eye, still doesn't look right. They will have to put her under, to get a better look.cry

*Sigh*

It's always something.

Or two.

Or three.

No worries! We will carry on!

I'll keep you posted!smile

Hi!! Nothing exciting here. Work. Enjoy the dishwasher!! Yay for no more dishpan hands!
So glad things are slowly transitioning back to normal. My state is second for infection rates per capita.

FWM ~
Just remember when loading the
dishwasher, silverware always
goes "mouth" down!

When I went for classes for my
food handler's license, they were
adamant that all people who
loaded the dishwashers knew
exactly why "mouth down" was
so important.

After the load is washed, and you
are starting to unload it, when
you reach for the silverware,
you don't want to touch where
the diners will put it in their
mouth. "Mouth down" puts
the handles sticking up, so
the staff can safely grab the
utensils and put them away,
without touching the area that
the diner would put in their
mouth.

You'd be amazed at how many
restaurants get a failing grade
because they don't load the
dishwasher correctly.

Does your user's manual show
pictures of their machine, fully
loaded? This might give you
an idea of how things should
be stacked.

Glad the installation took place
when they promised. That's
good customer service.

Trudy ~
Is your niece close enough that
you can bring her some Jewish
Penicillin (aka chicken noodle soup)?
And if you don't have any homemade
chicken soup, Chinese won ton soup
is the next best thing. Hope she feels
better real soon.

My DH used to load handle down, saying his grandfather taught him that. His grandfather was an appliance repairman. Anyway, when MIL was visiting, and in front of DH, I asked her. She said no way, it's handle side up. DH has been doing it correctly ever since.

These new dishwashers are different.

Knives can go in blade down.

Forks and spoons have to go in handle down. They won't fit in the slots, mouth down.

Go figure.confuse

I put the knives and long handled iced teaspoons in those skinny slots and forks and spoons in the larger trays.

Well, I read the owner's manual.

Kitchen Aid says, for best cleaning, load knives, blade down. And fork and spoon, handle down.

So, I guess I'll do what they recommend.smile

Oh FWM!
That's terrible design work! Is
it because the spoons/forks
might "nest", i.e. stack themselves
so that the water cannot reach all
the sides of the silverware?

Well, Momala, if it's terrible design...it's just the way they do it, these days.

I looked at Kitchen Aid, GE, LG, Samsung, and a few others. They all have similar silverware baskets.

I'm sure part of it is to prevent nesting. It also makes sense, that whatever is outside the basket, is going to get cleaner, than what's inside the basket.

I wash my hands, before I unload the dishwasher. So, I'm not too freaked out over touching a fork or a spoon.wink

I'm not sure. They are the from Magnolia at Target. I don't care for them really, but I wanted them and DH bought them for me for Christmas one year. The black will scrape off if you use an abrasive sponge on them, or your child decided to "chew" on them. Also, they are weighted differently and fall off the plate when you're carrying them on your plate if they aren't completely on the plate, if that makes sense. I think the handles are weighted too heavily for the utensil end. But they are pretty on the table.

They say you still have to wear mask, no eating in restaurants etc... what is the point of ge one?  I’m so glad I live in a Republican state, our schools are open ,restaurants are open, shopping centers are open, only the major cities that has Democrat mayors are closed, our rural population is growin, because a lot of the city dwellers are moving out.
