Starting Wednesday no more masks for Texas! I don't think this will really effect me as I will continue to have to wear one at work. I do online ordering for groceries so that doesn't bother me. I rarely go anywhere. Occasionally I stop somewhere and I have to remind myself to wear a mask but I don't think think this is going to change much for me.

Our state doesn’t have a mask mandate, except in Kansas City and St. Louis, all of our restaurants are open, at least in my county and you don’t have to wear a mask. Even with all that, our numbers are going down.
And, you would be very foolish, to think that, to stop wearing a mask inside stores, places of business. Anywhere, that you have to go inside, is a good idea.
It's not a good idea.
Texas, is NOT mask FREE!
The statewide mask mandate, has been lifted.
That doesn't mean, we are mask free.
The power goes back to the counties, and the cities, and the businesses.
And, from what I see...no one is in a big hurry, to do away with wearing a mask. (Not in DFW)
I don't see much changing if businesses maintain their requirements. I suspect there will be those that will, too. Personally, my mask is around under my chin all the time unless someone comes closer than 6 feet then I raise it up. And just so they feel better, it gives me no reassurance.
When we first started wearing them, I had my doubts.
But, after going over a year, without catching a cold, or having a sore throat. I'm a believer! LOL! (I might keep wearing one in stores and other indoor places, forever. It's nice not getting sick!)
I stopped getting sick when I started washing my hands and using a clean paper towel to open and close doors, and keep a healthy distance from others. And despite going places while dangling a mask from my chin, haven't gotten sick since I went on 100% telework in April 2019. Well, it was actually way before April since I have been sick. knocking on wood.

Masks are still required in federal buildings and on any form of mass transit.
It sounds like schools are going to keep using them.
And, businesses are free to keep them in place, if they chose to.
It sounds like a lot of the businesses around here, on not ready to drop the mask requirements yet.
After spending a little time on the Nextdoor website, I reckon there are going to be some pissed off people. (Some were saying they burned all their masks, and swear they will never wear one again. LOL! They might change their tune, once they find out they can't go into many places, without one.)
Yeah, I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon. My job even had some made with our agency logo on them for us when we return. So restrictions aren't going to be lifted as long as Fauci is out running around telling everyone to wear as many masks as they own.
With these variants floating around and Fauci saying they're more dangerous than the original one, I'd be unwilling to stop wearing one. I can't believe they've lifted the restriction but kept it for federal buildings, transit and volunteer in other locations. Are they coming up for re-election soon? Sounds like a ploy to me.
I, too, haven't gotten sick this year either, other than the normal nasal drip from allergies all year long, which drives me nuts. lol
LOL, FNW, I swear, Fauci has stock in all these masks manufacturing companies and since sales slowed, he's pushing wearing as many as one can.
DH and I will continue to wear
our masks whenever we go out
to a store or restaurant. Our
county numbers are WAY down,
except for our VA residence,
where they remain high.
I make sure to wash our fabric
masks once a week - hot water,
detergent, and bleach. Our
Doctor's office gave us each
one, with their logo on it, so
we would always have a good
one, plus my HMO sent me 2.
We have at least two packages
of disposable masks, for those
to come to our home and don't
have one.
I'm delighted that Texas is in
the process of opening up most
of the businesses, especially
The Pig Stand in San Antonio,
which is owned by DH's niece.
It was recently highlighted by
Texas Country Reporter. Hope
she gets swamped by new
diners!!!
They don’t force us to wear masks, at least in my county, I’ve seen people in target, grocery stores without masks, even with all that our numbers are going down. I wear it, but it’s more because out of courtesy then for me. I actually forgot last week and no one said a word.
They bumped teaches, and child care workers, into the group able to sign up for the vaccine, in Texas. (Wayne got his first shot on Tuesday. Over 65...folks with medical conditions...you get the drift.)
I'm fine with that. From what I've read, a lot of children are struggling with online schooling.
It puts me even further, to the back of the line.
I'm okay with that, too.
Once they take care of the teachers, and child care workers...IMHO...take care of grocery store workers, next.
We all need food.
I can wait for the shot.
I can't go more than a couple of days, without food.
I'm all for calling out the
National Guard to help
expedite the administration
of the vaccine(s). There are
just so many health care
workers to do the job, and
I certainly don't want them
to become stressed or burned
out.
My hospital is kind of controlling the vaccine distribution in my county. Everything is very well organized. The only problem we are having is not getting the doses promised when promised from the state.

Our area doctors are volunteering and giving shots at large facilities. And CVS is giving them now too. That's where my mom goes tomorrow. My cousin in AR volunteered to help out and was able to get her shots that way. At the end of the day if there was any leftover, it went to the volunteers.
I'm on the illustrious list to get a vaccine at work. Don't know when. Don't really care. For about 8 or so months I've been wearing a N95 at work. Wore it even when we had a covid unit. If I am at the nurses desk all alone I pull it down. Which is a lot of the night to be honest. Whenever I go out anywhere else I wear a regular mask and laugh at how loose and useless it is. Gaps on all four sides. Doesn't even tough my skin on the sides. I haven't caught covid yet. I use good handwashing and stay out of people's faces. DF thinks he got covid back when it wasn't covid. He got his first vaccine the other day. I won't wear a mask when I go out anymore but I rarely go out. Due to my new insurance I have a pharmacy with a drive thru and I just go to that. I do online ordering at the store so it gets delivered to my house. Easy peasy. I pretty much live on Amazon.

I know a person/silkscreener that can make the masks. I had them done and surprised my brother. Lots of laughs. GG wears one too. I laugh all day.
Meh. I wear one because it makes others feel better. My feeling is that if stores want me to wear one to enter, I'll honor their request. I think in restaurants, it's silly, though, because you can't wear one and eat, so what is the point of just wearing it to the table?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

My friend will wear it in but not leaving. It's funny. She says are they going to ask her to leave? She already is. So, meh.
I'll wear it to make others feel better but I know it does nothing.

I’m the same way, major restaurants require them, but the local restaurants don’t and no one wears the mask going in or out, inclu the waiters. People are done.
If the mandates drop, then businesses are going to feel far more relaxed to not "enforce" it. I am seeing more people in Walmart etc without masks. So, i think people go thru the farce to put it on to walk in and then take it off. It's going to be impossible for them to enforce it now as more and more people have had enough of this. And, I had covid in Feb, i am not a threat to anyone
