I used to love the egg hunts. This was the first year we didn't do them. The boys wanted cash instead. So they got less than they would have gotten from the egg hunt.
We had a nice brunch.
Still waiting to hear back from two different residential programs. I suspect the holiday kept them otherwise occupied. Hopefully they can get back to reviewing my son's records soon. The waiting is frustrating.
Icing out here. I just got back from Trader Joe's. Wow, groceries are expensive. I have been shopping Aldi through Instacart for months so my grocery bill has been pretty low. But today, yikes. Double.
Good afternoon, glad your taxes is done and things went well with your new dentist fwm, happy that you enjoyed your brunch fnw, groceries are high as with everything else, wish Trader Joe’s will come closer to my area, but the closest one is in St. Louis and that is about three hours from me. I hope you get news soon fnw.
Midst of potty training baby girl, not as easy as the boys:(
We heard on the news last week, that chickens and turkey are having to be destroyed by the hundreds of thousands, due to avian flu.
And I eat chicken and turkey because it's cheap! Yikes! Better stock those freezers, my friends. I fear poultry won't stay cheap for long!
Lindley, I feel your pain on the potty training thing.
Cate is trained. But she has little accidents almost every day. She waits until the last minute, and ends up just dribbling enough to have to change clothes.
Conor and Jessi are quite frustrated about it.
So today, I made her a chart. I told her when she went 14 days without an accident, I would get her some pretty panties. (She still wears training undies.)
I even showed her some, on Amazon.
I also made a chart to take home. Conor and Jessi liked my idea. So, hopefully...it will work.
I left it up to the preschool to train the boys. They had a woman who did that. I would send them with several pairs of underwear. The first day they came home with three soiled pairs then 1 the next day and by day 3 they were done. Never had an accident at night either. The woman was an angel. LOL

I had my own kids trained in about 3 days, too, FNW.
I waited until they were waking up in the morning with a dry diaper...so I knew their bodies were ready.
But, Pull-Up pants weren't a thing, yet. My kids went from the diaper, to training pants. As a result, I never had a problem.
I tried to talk Jessi and Conor out of using Pull-Ups. Sadly, my advice fell on deaf ears. I knew Cate would continue to have accidents, using the Pull-Ups, because there was no down side to peeing or pooping herself. And, damn...did I call it.
She's only been wearing the cloth training pants since last summer. And, for the longest time, small accidents were few and far between. It's just been in the past few weeks that they have become a daily happening.
I suspect, it's a bit of a power play, on her part. She is a very strong willed child. She doesn't like to be told to do anything. I always ask nicely, if she has been to the potty lately.
Or, if she needs to go. And, she always tells me no, she doesn't have to.
I'm smart enough to insist she at least try, before we go for an outing to the park, or store, or whatever. And she will always try, before we leave. (Cause she knows Grandma won't take her out, until she makes the attempt.)
So, I think the chart, and promise of pretty panties, should do the trick. Fingers crossed!
(And, to the inventor of Pull-Up Pants...I hope you rot in hell, for the damage you've caused with your worthless invention!) Okay, maybe that was a bit harsh. I wouldn't wish him to hell, but you catch my drift!
I think I used pull-ups at night for one night but they were dry so I didn't repeat that.
My mother trained my brother by having him play in the kitchen (linoleum) without anything on. It was So. Cal, and we didn't have A/C back then, so he was perfectly happy playing in the nude. That way, when he went, he felt it and it was "yucky" (and the floors could be easily cleaned). I guess it worked. LOL
My #2 son said he would wait until he went to college to learn. Or until he got to Tidmouth Sheds. (eyeroll) #1 was trained just before his 3rd birthday. I waited about six months for #2 and he was trained right after Thanksgiving. I just told him, "today is the day," and he said okay.
The little girl is doing good today, she actually went on her own today and after going potty I was sidetracked with getting lunch ( the boys were Starving) and went to get the potty and the potty bucket was missing and I thought no good, she emptied her pee into the toilet and was trying to flush it down. She is pretty stubborn, but unfortunately for her, her mother is equally stubborn. It was fun to watch them Saturday, mama always win
My grandma potty trained DS while DH and I were on vacation. He was almost 2 and a half. She asked if we minded her potty training him. Nope!
We liked the Pull Ups. They contained the accidents when DS would have them. They also gave him independence since he could pull them up and down on his own. He potty trained pretty quick for the daytime but it took a couple years till he was fully night time trained. He's a heavy sleeper so the Pull Ups especially came in handy at night.
