March already!

Can y'all believe we're already in the third month of 2023? Wow!

Trucking along here. Very much looking forward to Spring Break. This coming week is the last week before Spring Break then two glorious weeks off followed by the last 8 weeks of third grade then DS is off for summer. I can't believe he's almost done with the first half of elementary school.

Anyone experiencing wild weather? We've been having more rain than usual and high winds.

It snowed not far from me yesterday. The weather here has been drunk! My bestie in OC, SoCal said it was snowing in OC and LA too recently. I reiterate - drunk weather!

Nor I. I saw it snow in Phoenix once and graupel once. The graupel stuck on the ground for a few hours. The snow didn't stick at all.

Spring has officially arrived
in south Texas. The purple
phlox are in full bloom along
the roadsides, and the Texas
bluebonnets are covering huge
patches of our fields.

The sparrows that return to
their nest every year are back.
I put clumps of laundry lint on
the barbed wire fence near the
nest, and they have used it all
up.

DH took a spill while in the barn
yesterday. Thankfully, he had
his phone with him, so he could
call me to help him get up. He's
very sore today, but only one
scrape on his arm. Antibiotic
cream and a huge bandage will
be in his future for the next
couple of days.

Yikes!

I slept walked the other night and tripped into the bathtub, hitting the back of my head (which woke me up). I've slept walked a few times over the last year. Not sure what that's all about except maybe stress induced.

Anything you can do to make sure you don't leave your bed?

Oh my! Hopefully the sleep walking will end soon. I wonder if some kind of bell or something that will wake you up.

Can you tie a string to your
nightgown and pin it to the
sheet or pillowcase?

These are all great ideas. One night I started downstairs and set off the burglar alarm and woke up the whole house.

School gets out in may too! This is the last year my daughter will homeschool her children, oldest is starting Jr high the second 3rd grade and the baby preschool. The girls are very nervous and excited, biggest worry is the what if no one wants to sit with them at lunch..

Do they interact easily with other kids when they're at play places?

It probably won't be a problem. I was an outcast when I was in school and don't recall it being an issue for me. I think my school did assigned tables for lunch.

DS is a social butterfly. He has students asking him to sit with them. I don't know that world.

They interact well with other children, my daughter made sure they are around and interacted with other children their age, they have friends in their community group, Church and neighborhood.  I believe what they are feeling is more like any kid who is starting a new school feels.   The third grader is definitely a social butterfly and possibly won’t be the only new student since the city where they live is growing with new families.

My biggest fear was the same. I tried to make sure I sat with multiple kids because I feared being alone if my only friend was home sick. I ask the boys every day who they sat with and whether they talked at all. Nowadays, they sit on their phones and once in awhile, share tik tok videos with each other. The last couple weeks they have been talking about March Madness.

Sounds like they'll be just fine :)
