September has been a busy one for me so far. Started off with a doctor appointment for my dad. Bible study started back up last night. Our ice maker died yesterday. Going to take it back to Costco at some point to see if they can look up to see if we've purchased the warranty or not.

I decorated for fall this morning. Now I'm tired. LOL I do my best work when I have the house to myself, and DH went into the office today. I wish he would go every day. When he's home, even when he's taking calls, he follow me around to see what I am doing. Drives me crazy.

Ah, life. Yesterday, I popped over to Discount Tire to get my wiper blades replaced since they sell them now and install them for free. Well, the employee accidentally broke the wiper arm on the back wiper. No worries. They're going to fix it. I felt bad for the employee. I sure wouldn't want to tell a customer I damaged their vehicle.

I made the employee laugh though. I told him that it's AZ so it's not like it's going to rain anytime soon so I'll be fine without it for now.

I’m sure he appreciated your kindness, customer service isn’t an easy job. Went to lunch with a friend and did a little shopping.

#1 sprained his ankle today playing basketball with friends. Now he can't run in tomorrow's cross country meet. He's upset, but seems to be handling it well.

It is with a sad heart that I post that my mother died unexpectedly overnight. We got the call from the nursing home in the early morning hours that she suddenly had trouble breathing and they and the paramedics did multiple rounds of CPR and could not revive her.

My father is heartbroken. I'm numb. I do not do well with unexpected deaths.

I’m so very sorry to hear this, it’s hard enough when one is expecting it but really hard when it’s unexpected. I know you are hurting, stunned and grieving…. Prayers for you and your family for comfort, peace and strength. 🌷

Thanks. The feeling of shock is indescribable.

It's still surreal that grandma is gone and the surreal-ness is compounded with her being gone.

I am so sorry Chef, It is hard to lose our mothers. I am sure she knew you loved her and was with her in spirit if not body when she knew she was being called to heaven. Hugs to you and your family.

Thanks. Still numb.

Visited my father today. He started crying and saying he just wants to go home and be with his honey pie. Tears my heart right out. I know if he could will it, he'd die right on the spot.

As much as possible, yes. Found out today, that he and my uncle cannot make October's rent. I don't know what we're going to do. Things have never been this bad. God's got this. I know He is. It's just been a long, long time since we've been in a valley this deep.

We have two rooms in my in-laws' house. We don't even have a place of our own. If we had our own place, we'd just have them move in with us. Hopefully FIL can hatch something. He's good at stuff like that.

Question.

Our friend and DH were helping my dad get started on sorting through the garage today. Our friend found a dead baby scorpion. On the chance mama, daddy, or live baby scorpions are lurking ... what are safe ways to kill them?

I know mama scorpions carry babies on their back so I need to watch for that.

I'm not interested in paying for pest control since they're not staying at that house. I'm only interested in how to kill them that won't end with me getting stung. I haven't yet seen evidence of live scorpions so I'm not sure I want to buy Raid for scorpions (or whatever the product would be). I do have some cans of Off bug spray I could use that might stun them long enough for me to dispatch them?

Hello chef, hope you are doing ok as well as your dad.. could you use some bug bombs, I think that’s what it’s called in the house and garage?

I don't want to put forth that kind of effort. I want something effective to kill them on sight should I see a live one during the packing process. I'm not afraid of them. I just don't want to be stung. Usually, I just step on or smack the bug but I only wear sandals (risk of the stinger hitting my foot) and I'm not going to smack a scorpion. I did some reading and saw that the key is to pierce the exoskeleton so I guess I'll find a long knife or something.

As to my dad and I - The shock is wearing off for me. He very much wants to go home to be with his honey pie. I'm beyond overwhelmed with all the stuff to do.

blankstareAnd just like that, September is almost over. I have my new Pellet Stove insert going today, Sonny is loving it. I've been busy with outside reno's this month and work. it's amazing how much my utilities have dropped since my son and his wife moved out and DD went off to college. Hope you all are doing well.

My oldest grandchild is in 6th grade this year, I probably already posted that, the girls first year going to a public school after being homeschooled, they love it and are making friends and kudos to my daughter they are acing their school work.

He married in May. And then they finally moved out of my house.  I am happy for him. He wanted to marry and start a family.
