I think a fine line needs to be walked here.

Do I think a relationship between a 51 year old guy and an 18 year old girl is all aboveboard? Not likely.

I also agree with those who say that simply " forbidding" any relationship, whatever it may be is likely to backfire.

He could be a perv but he may just be a nice interesting man. When I was in my 20s I was very good friends with a man in his 70s. It was strictly platonic. He worked in my office complex & I ran into him frequently. We'd chat & one day he invited me to lunch. We ate lunch together once a week for years.

Why are they trying to reason with an 18 year old? I would go directly to the man at his work and tell him that he needs to back off on the relationship otherwise he will be reported to upper management. It worked when I called out my sister's boss, it will work like a charm here too.

You don't know that they even have a policy against that.  She's an adult (legally).  If her employer doesn't have a policy against it, then there is nothing you can do...

Oh I totally agree, she is legal age and there may not be a policy in place preventing a relationship outside of work.

However a chat with the man offering strong words MAY give him enough of a pause to think about how important it is to pursue a relationship.
